Carrier is smart and well-read enough to offer interesting arguments, but fanatical enough that refuting them adds zest to life. <br /><br />Also, once one explores the facts, one usually find that they point in just the opposite direction from where Carrier takes them -- to the truth of Christianity, in fact. So I find Carrier's arguments an aid to the Gospel. <br /><br />So don't feel sorry for me -- no, I don't feel sorry for myself. My only complaint is that the skeptics aren't any better at their job. Stating things that are easily shown to be false does not mean that one necessarily believes them to be false. Given what many people have been willing to believe, one should not consider lying a plausible hypothesis unless one has more direct evidence.<br /><br />That aside, I pose a thought experiment. Imagine that one could go back in a time machine to Palestine around 30 - 33 CE, and that one had a smartphone to do video recording.
